Worship At The Master’s Feet

For those who don’t know, in 2008, I founded a worship ministry – At The Master’s Feet (ATMF) – although our first outreach held in 2009. ATMF serves to fulfil the mandate to raise true worshippers who worship God in spirit and in truth by organizing annual 2-hour worship gatherings in Nigeria and in Ghana (with the plan to go into other African nations) and an annual outreach to women in Nigeria – Alabaster Box. In between outreaches/worship gatherings, we keep sending out messages by sms, online and e-newsletter to help worshippers grow in their lifestyle of true worship.

ATMF Nigeria 2015 held recently on Good Friday, April 3, 2015 at the venue we have used for the past three years – Guiding Light Assembly, Ikoyi. The theme for this year’s gathering was ‘All About Jesus’. The desire of our heart was to address the ‘falling away’ of the saints of God manifested by a shift in focus from Jesus and His cross to temporal things, the pursuit of which distracts from the pursuit of God. We live in an age where there is a lot of ‘spirituality’ but little of the lordship of Jesus in lives; where we have refused to acknowledge that Jesus would have us bear our own individual crosses and follow Him.

I led the worship with songs like ‘It’s all about You, Jesus’, ‘The Heart of Worship’ and ‘You are the Reason’ as we reminded ourselves that Jesus MUST be the centre of our lives, our churches and our nation. For the first time, after we had repented personally for forsaking our ‘first love’, we spent a few minutes to intercede for the church of Christ in Nigeria, repenting on her behalf and asking God to open the eyes and soften the hearts of His children, and to draw us back to Himself so we can be the salt of the earth and light of the world indeed.

We also introduced a couple of new songs that are not popularly sung or perhaps not even known at all here in Nigeria like ‘With all I am’ by Hillsong and ‘Alabaster’ by Rend Collective Experiment. These two songs capture the heart of a true worshipper whose entire being is surrendered to the lordship of Jesus. It is my hope that songs like these will begin to be sung in our worship services and in our individual times of personal devotion. These are songs that give no place to self – my will, my desires, my feelings, my thoughts, my challenges; rather they are all about God – His will, His desires, His feelings, His thoughts, etc.

It was a wonderful time of worship and even when the team left the stage and moved backstage to pray, the worship continued amongst us for some time. Our love for God was rekindled and we give God the glory.

So what’s next? Alabaster Box 2015 is in the pipelines and ATMF Ghana 2015 after that.

Would you like to grow as a worshipper? You can subscribe at www.atthemastersfeet.org to receive our monthly newsletter that gives you updates about our events but more importantly, gives you links to: a blog to read; a short (as much as possible) video to watch; a song to listen to; a book to read.

The whole essence of life is God and His will manifested in Jesus. Let’s pursue both and we will capture His heart and grow in intimacy with Him.
