As a human being with seasons and emotions, I have those occasions, now and then, when I’m tired, haven’t communicated much with God due to busyness, and just overwhelmed by life. It’s at those very low moments when the question flits into my mind – “What if this thing about Christ and salvation isn’t really true?”
Sometime ago, I received a bag as an event souvenir, and the fabric cover had zigzag lines in the rainbow colours as the motif. My mind immediately went to the gay pride, and it bothered me because I know full well the origin of the rainbow, and this blog is a result of my introspection.
Music is a wonderful gift from God and a powerful tool in the hands of mankind. Instrumental music can minister to the soul like it did when David played for Saul (see 1 Samuel 16:14-23). However, the lyrics of a song can do amazing things in the hearts and minds of the listeners. This is very important to me as a music minister because what causes transformation in the hearts and minds of people is God’s truth expressed in song.
Yesterday, I stumbled on a song by CeCe Winans titled ‘Never Have to be Alone’.
This morning, I was expressing, to God, my desire to experience some spiritual growth; to live my life in the spirit – a life where I’m Spirit-filled and led by the Spirit more than I am by my flesh (my carnal nature). All at once, I realized that the onus was on me. It’s not God’s responsibility to make me live a spiritual life; it’s mine. Jesus has given me the liberty to walk in the spirit and the Holy Spirit lives in me, but the choice is mine to take advantage of what He’s given me.
For some of us on the journey of faith, worshipping God is often associated with joy and celebration. However, what about worshipping in pain and suffering? Can praise and worship find a place in the midst of trials and tribulations? I wrote a book titled ‘Worshipping in Pain’ to address these questions. This article highlights a few of my thoughts which are expounded on in the book.
Today, as I read yet again Jesus’s rebuke to Peter, I found it difficult to move past His words. It struck me, as it has done several times already, how different God’s perspective is. from ours.
